Terms of Use
Effective date: April 8, 2026
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Slingshot IEP web application, operated by Slingshot Labs Benefit LLC. By using Slingshot, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. What Slingshot is
Slingshot IEP is a tool to help parents and guardians prepare for Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings. It allows you to organize your child's strengths and concerns, upload IEP documents for analysis, and generate a preparation packet.
Slingshot is not a legal service, educational consulting service, or medical provider. Nothing generated by Slingshot constitutes legal advice, a professional educational assessment, or a medical opinion. For legal representation in IEP proceedings, consult a qualified special education attorney.
2. Your account
You create an account using your email address. We authenticate you via a sign-in link sent to that email. You are responsible for keeping your email account secure. Do not share sign-in links with others.
You must be at least 18 years old and a parent or legal guardian of the child whose information you enter. By using Slingshot, you represent that you have the legal right to share any documents or information you upload.
3. Your data
You own the information you provide and the documents you upload. By uploading content, you grant Slingshot a limited license to process that content for the sole purpose of providing the service to you. We do not claim ownership of your child's IEP or any documents you share.
You can delete your child's profile and all associated data at any time from within the application. To delete your account entirely, contact us at hello@slingshotiep.com.
4. AI-generated content
Slingshot uses artificial intelligence to analyze documents and generate preparation materials. AI-generated content may be incomplete, inaccurate, or miss nuances specific to your child's situation. You should review all generated content carefully before using it in an IEP meeting.
AI output is a starting point, not a final answer. It does not replace the knowledge of educators, specialists, or attorneys who know your child and their school system.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload documents you do not have the right to share
- Use the service on behalf of a child who is not your legal dependent or ward
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
- Use the service for any commercial purpose without written consent
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the service
6. Availability
We aim to keep Slingshot available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any harm caused by service interruptions.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Slingshot Labs Benefit LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including outcomes of IEP meetings. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months prior to the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.
The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Maryland, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. We will notify you by email before material changes take effect. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
